Academics

The Molecular and Cell Biology (MCB) Department at UC Merced will advance academics and contribute to the campus’ goal to become a world-class research campus that provides exceptional and equitable STEM education and establishes the Central Valley as a hub for integrative, transformative, and translational research and sustainable development.

MCB contributes heavily to the Biological Sciences Major undergraduate program. The undergraduate BIO program teaches biology as a multidisciplinary science, reflecting the increasing role of chemistry, physics, mathematics, computer science and advanced technologies in the life sciences.

The Molecular and Cell Biology Department (MCB) department also heavily contributes to the Quantitative and Systems Biology (QSB) graduate program.

Both the Biology Undergraduate Major and QSB Graduate Program are multi-departmental collaborations and are amongst the largest academic programs on campus.
